Where Did June GO??

It was sadly the last day of summer school. Matthew had a blast and his reading skills are much improved...although I think he has memorized some of the stories and poems that he has brought home. It seems he played well with his classmates, brought home SEVERAL girls phone numbers and did well overall. Yes, you read that right....more girls phone numbers!! Tuesday night I met Stacy for dinner in Liberty. We ate at the Dish and it was really good. Of course, Matthew ate most of my leftovers! It was mega hot today but I was out tonight watering the lawn. I can't let it die now after finally getting some new grass to grow. I have basically ignored the back yard but it is doing pretty well. Tomorrow I'm off to the dentist and then Monday is jury duty. Oh I should have lots to blog after that!!!

HELLO

For those of you who haven't seen me in a while or gasp, saw that horrible picture of me on Amanda's blog....I hope this redeems me a bit. Yes, I took it myself :-) And I am trying to plan a trip across the state before school starts in August! Have a great weekend and thanks for checking in.

It's Friday Already..

That means.....I'm off to work tomorrow. So, as usual, Friday afternoons I feel like a chicken with my head cut off! Last minute laundry and trying to decide what to wear to work this weekend. Soon that decision will be unfortunately very easy. We are going to all navy blue uniforms. BORING!! Don't get me started about this subject. There will be times during the year when we can wear other scrub tops on special hollidays. I'm not sure if they will include KU basketball games in that but I'm going to try! I'm 98% done priming the porch and from the street, it looks good. I have become such a perfectionist with this project that I'm debating about doing some more calking before the final paint goes on. I'm posting a picture so you can see how big of a project I crazily started!

Rain And More Rain

It has rained off and on most of the day today. I am STILL working on the front porch. I'm not sure if I've blogged about this before but our front porch was rotting so a couple of months ago I had it rebuilt. New, treated wood was used so I had to wait a few weeks for it to "dry out". I thought during summer school would be the perfect time to calk, sand, prime then paint it. How hard can it be? Well, I should have asked was how HOT can it get? The porch does just get the morning sun but boy, until the sun goes over the house, it's quite hot. So, I have calked, sanded and I'm ALMOST done priming!! YEAH. Matthew continues to love summer school and sadly, there is only one week left. Everyday I pick him up and ask him what they did today.....and is response: "We had two recesses!!" Who knows what they are learning but he is having a blast! He is all about taking a sack lunch too. I would think he would be tired of cheese sandwiches and cheese and crackers......but not yet.

Another Tooth Gone

This is obviously a before picture but not long after it was taken......Matthew let me pull out his third tooth!! How he made it through the whole day at school with that tooth I'll never know!! He excitedly went to bed to wait for the tooth fairy.

Rough Weekend

Actually, the boys had a nice weekend, it was just me that struggled. Work on Saturday wasn't anything to complain about . Sunday I woke up with a migraine headache. I had the flashing lights in my vision and I quickly took some over the counter migraine medication to try and ward off a headache. I felt fine until I got in the elevator at work and then it was like I had been shot in the head. I got to the floor and some of my co workers took my blood pressure and of course, it was pretty high. So, off to the ER I went. Next thing I knew I had an IV (yes I hated it) and got some IV pain medication. I felt better and promised the ER doctor I would de-stress my life (haven't figured that out yet) and get some rest. I also promise to keep closer tabs on my blood pressure. Yes, I have possibly been in denial about that issue. While I rested on Sunday, Joe took Matthew to his first Major League Baseball Game. They watched the Royals get beat......yet again.......but Matthew made it through almost 7 innings. I think that is pretty good for a 6 year old.

Life is a Highway...

After good behavior for a couple of weeks, we went to see CARS tonight. We all give it two thumbs up!! It is super cute and Matthew was just enthralled. I, of course, enjoyed the Rascal Flatts song :-) There was a little incident while Joe and Matthew went to the bathroom.... someone threw a napkin or cup from a few rows behind me. No one seemed to make a stir about it but the next thing I knew, 4-5 policemen were making their presence known. Needless to say, nothing else happened and everyone enjoyed the rest of the movie. And if you have a chance to go......watch the credits as they are just hysterical. Matthew even went to bed without a fuss and I believe his head barely hit the pillow before he was out! On another note, my grass is growing very well and I saw a humingbird the other day! Hope you all have a wonderfull weekend. Thanks for checking in!!

Summer School!!

YEAH. Matthew LOVES summer school. I am not too surprised but I am relieved. I was hoping it would help make the transition to first grade easier in the fall. The first day I picked him up he said, "Mom, it was a LONG day!" (he is only used to half day kindergarden) Today he said he had a great time. The only pain (and I hate to complain) is that I have to take and pick him up. I really don't mind the task it is just so unorganized at this point. There is no bus transportation. So, drop off actually goes pretty smoothly but pick up is a mega nightmare. There are about 100+ cars all trying to get into one entrance. I don't have to be anywhere so I just bring a magazine and enjoy the hot weather!!

Cardnial is her color...Jewell is her name.....

Here are the 3 fraternity houses and one honor home. I think the soroities will be getting homes soon too. They look REALLY nice! We didn't have this when we were there!!

While we were in Liberty today, I decided to be nostalgic and drive around the campus of William Jewell College. It is just so pretty and empty with no school going on right now. So, for those of you who didn't like the previous post with the KU pillow, this is where my real loyalties belong. Today I took a picture of the newly remodeled Melrose Hall that was severly damaged in a tornado a couple of years ago.

Lunch in Liberty

We went to Liberty and picked up McDonalds and ate it at my friend Julie's (from college). She has two boys; Andrew is 7 and Aaron is 4. All 3 boys actually ate a good lunch and spent about an hour or so playing. Somehow I got all 3 to sit still for a quick picture. Yes, they look like they have been up to no good!! Aaron broke his arm a month ago when he fell off his bike. They get to remove it tomorrow!!
